My Secrets To Live Launching Without Burning Out

Here’s a question for you…

Does spending 5 months launching sound intense and tiring OR easeful and fun?

This was my reality mid-year after wrapping up a big launch season where I’d been in either open cart launch or pre-launch of my programs, back to back, for 5 months.

And while yes – it was definitely a big season in the business, launching is also not something that stresses me out, burns me out or exhausts me.

And so what I want to share with you today on the Feminine Fire Podcast is how I do it – how I live launch without burning out.

I take you through the 5 key things that make this possible for me – so you can then take this information, reflect on how it applies to you and then implement for your next launch.

1: I work WITH my energy

…rather than against it.

There are a lot of “shoulds” in the online space when it comes to live launching and launch strategies and we know how we feel about the word “should”.

Because the fact is, there’s no one right way to do anything in business and lots of different launch strategies work. It’s about knowing what works for you, your business and your energy.

So first things first, let’s throw out the rule book and focus on what’s going to work best for YOU.

The reason I can live launch for 5 months is because I know what works for me and my energy.

For me that looks like longer launch periods – because the idea of having this really intense launch of only 1, even 2 weeks feels wildly dysregulating for me.

Now there’s also some strategic reasons why longer launch periods are a very good idea and what I most often recommend to clients – including the fact that people are needing more nurturing and more time in that buying cycle as they make purchasing decisions. Longer launches allow for that extra time and space for clients to engage with your content, ask any questions and overcome any objections they might have.

So there is a strategic element to this too, but for me this is first and foremost an energetic decision. As a mama of 2, with not a lot of time, I’m always looking for how I can create more spaciousness in my business – and longer launches are where it’s at for me.

So for you – the question here is to consider your energy, your season of life, how you like to work and show up and sell.

2: I have a solid launch plan and simple rinse-and-repeat process

I’ll never stop talking about how much I love having a plan.

Having a plan has saved my ass during a launch more times than I can count.

I think a big part of launch overwhelm and stress comes from decision fatigue. No matter what your launch looks like, how long it is, what platforms you’re on or what your actual strategy is – there ARE a lot of decisions to make.

Having a solid launch plan means you sit down, you do your planning, you make those key decisions that you know you need to make and then it’s done.

You now just have to go implement the plan. And maybe you move things here or there, a deadline changes, something happens, but you’ve got something to respond to. There’s not this constant, “oh my goodness, am I forgetting something?” No, because it’s all there, in your plan.

Now the way that I do this in my launches is I literally take my last launch, duplicate the project in Asana and go through step by step, updating anything that needs updating, delegating and scheduling in the tasks, and making any key decisions.

Sometimes the decision is to park the decision, so I’ll pop a task in that’s like “Decide on open cart email sequence” and I’ll schedule it in before it needs to get done. I do this often for things that don’t need a decision straight out the gate, so I park it and pop it in for future me. But it's in the plan so it’ll get done.

The important thing here is that I'm rinsing and repeating my launch process. I’m not reinventing the wheel.

This is a launch process that I’ve honed over the last 5 years of launching in this way. Of course, it looks a bit different now because we’re always tweaking and improving things, but generally I have the same rinse and repeat process EVERY. SINGLE. LAUNCH.

The way that I treat this plan is that I have a baseline strategy – these are the things that I’m 100% implementing in pretty much every launch.

  • There will be a free lead magnet.

  • There will be a live launch event.

  • There will be a long open cart period of XX amount of time.

  • There will be podcast episodes that go out each week, launch emails, social media posts.

That’s the baseline – and then anything extra I want to play with and test out is just a bonus.

For example, right now in the lead up to the next launch of the Spiritual Business Mistressmind, I’m playing with a new waitlist strategy where I’m giving the waitlist the exclusive opportunity to ask me questions about scaling their business.

It’s fun! It’s something new! And I’m enjoying implementing it and connecting with the waitlist in this way. But it’s also one of those bonus nice to have strategies that I’m testing out because I have the capacity and it feels fun to provide this extra little bit of bespoke support to the people who have signed up to the waitlist.

Most launches I try something new like this, and then I get to review whether or not it's something I want to continue and incorporate in the long term.

But I always have that baseline launch process that I get to repeat again and again and again. It’s recorded, it’s there, I don’t have to think of every single step and task every time I launch.

So for you – the question to consider here is what is YOUR rinse and repeat launch process?

And if it's your first time launching, where are you recording this process so you can make it easier for yourself next time?

3: I lean into support

I don’t do it all by myself.

I have a dream team of 2 incredible humans supporting me in the business. They have been by my side now for YEARS and they’re amazing.

I have Jilanne, my wonderful VA and support goddess who does all the tech-y stuff, the admin, the onboarding, the scheduling, the setting up of landing pages and funnels – so much of the behind the scenes of a launch happens because Jilanne has made it so.

And then I have Tahryn, my incredible content manager who is an actual content and launch goddess and wizard. We work together to refine my launch messaging and then she writes the sales pages, sign up pages, emails, facebook ads, some social media posts – basically any and all launch content, except for the actual words I share with you here on the podcast, has been touched by Tahryn’s magic. And when it comes to the podcast, Tahryn takes my notes and turns it into the show notes, the blog post, part of the weekly email and more.

I'm by no means a one woman show – I’m very well supported in the business.

And this support is HUGE. It cannot be understated. It’s honestly what allows me to be in pre-launch / launch for 5 months and not burn out.

If I was doing EVERYTHING on my own, my launches would look very different. I would have to pare everything right back. I just simply wouldn’t have the capacity to put out the amount of content that I do and show up on the front end and the back end, and continue to support clients and run the business all at the same time. It’s only possible for me to do it in this way because I have support.

So for you – what support is available to you right now in your business? What support do you perhaps need to invest in BEFORE your next launch?

4: I have honed my launch mindset

One of the other reasons why I think live launching can feel overwhelming for people is because we have really high expectations of ourselves.

But then when things don’t go to plan (because of course nothing will ever go completely to plan) we get a bit wobbly in our mindset and everything feels harder.

Now of course, I'm not immune to this – but having launched a million times now, I have honed my launch mindset. That’s not to say I don’t get the wobbles or have self doubt pop up during a launch, because I certainly do.

But I have a solid launch mindset that I have worked on and will continue to work on over the years.

I have the strategies, the practices and the support to help me move through any stickiness that might come up during a launch.

Some of the key mindset shifts I’ve had to make in order to allow launches to feel more easeful and stress free are: letting go of the pressure and the perfectionism, and allowing it to be messy. Because yes, we have a plan and we’re organised, but it still often feels messy. It doesn’t matter how organised or planned you are.

And while that required a big mindset shift for me personally, there’s actually so much magic in that space because it gives you the opportunity to respond to what feedback you’re getting during a launch, to look at the data and tweak things that need tweaking, to add in more of a certain type of content because that’s what’s really resonating with your people, to refine your messaging mid-launch. If you are holding on to everything being clean and tidy and set it stone and perfect straight out the gate, you wouldn’t be able to do that.

And ultimately that agility and responsiveness is going to see you get better launch results. And that’s what’s most important, right? Better launch results means more people get to experience you and your magic, and you’re making more money in your launch. Win-win.

So for you – what are the mindset shifts you need to make around launching to relieve some of that pressure and overwhelm?

Do you believe that launching CAN be easeful and fun? Or do you believe that launching is fundamentally overwhelming and burn out inducing?

5: I prioritise my wellbeing and self care during a launch

This is one that I'm always consciously thinking about and improving.

As a mama of 2, with my youngest who is still under 2 and not a fabulous sleeper, my sleep isn’t great.

AND of course this is a season that I’m in right now with small children and there are things outside of my control BUT I am also fully owning my self responsibility here – because there are habits that I know I could 1000% improve on that would help me in the sleep department.

Looking after yourself is important ALL of the time…

But this is something that I’m even more conscious of during a launch.

Because a launch season, even with a solid plan and all the supports in place, is still bigger energetically. It still requires more energy from you as the business owner. So looking after you is number one. Your energy is SO important during a launch. If you’re depleted and showing up from that depleted space – that’s not going to be magnetic for your clients.

So for you – what habits are going to support YOU? What are the things you know you need to work on when it comes to your own health and wellbeing and self care?
