Soulful Sales: The Number 1 Skill You Need To Build A Successful Spiritual Business

One question I get asked a lot is – “how do I sell my offers soulfully?”

Soulful sales is the #1 skill you need to build a successful spiritual business and yet it’s something that I see spiritual business owners struggling with consistently.

This is because we collectively have this story that sales is icky or gross – the whole “sleazy car salesman” trope that we’re all familiar with.

When we’ve been bombarded with this story over and over again since childhood, of course we view sales as gross. It’s literally our conditioning.

But then there’s often an added layer to this for spiritual business owners – the belief that spirituality and business cannot co-exist.

This little voice that says: “How could it possibly be your soul’s purpose if you’re making money from it?”

And too many times I’ve seen this BS story hold incredibly gifted healers, lightworkers, heart-centred business owners back from sharing their gifts and light with the world.

So sales is something that I often support my clients with because it’s something that can feel very crunchy or sticky for them.

But they know it’s important so we make it a priority.

And I’d argue that sales is the MOST important skill you need to build a thriving successful business because selling is required to make sales, sign clients and make money.

You can’t build the business you desire without knowing how to sell, without being able to show up and share your offers effectively.

In today’s episode of the Feminine Fire Podcast I’ll be talking about SOULFUL SALES – why it’s the number 1 skill you need to build a successful spiritual business and how to cultivate this skill.

So, how do you sell soulfully? Let me tell you how.

Mindset

If you want to sell soulfully, you first have to believe that it’s possible to sell soulfully.

If you’re swanning around thinking that sales is sleazy and icky and gross, full stop. Well then there’s no bloody chance you’ll be able to move past that,

You have to change your mindset around sales – stop thinking that sales is sleazy and start creating new beliefs that encourage you to show up and sell.

You may have heard the reframe of sales is serving.

But what does that actually mean?

It means that when you’re selling your offers, you are giving your people the opportunity to be served by you, learn from you and be supported by you, and to achieve what they want to achieve, overcome what they want to overcome and get the solution to their problem.

The fact is, you have something that helps people. Selling is the mechanism for you giving that help to them.

When you sell soulfully, you’re doing it from a place of true service, where it’s mutually beneficial, everybody wins, you’ve got something they want and need, it’s a match.

That’s why seeing sales as serving is helpful. Because, of course, you want to help people. That’s why you’re in this business in the first place. When you approach sales in this way, then selling your offers isn’t sleazy or gross.

Sales is only sleazy or gross when it comes from a place of fear or lack or coercion.

A soulful sales process is one where you empower your clients to make the best decision for them, and where you show up from a place of genuine service.

When you start thinking of sales in this way, showing up to sell your offers feels very different. It’s not icky, it’s not gross, it’s your responsibility as a human with gifts and magic to share. Because who are you to withhold your service from the people who need it, just because you’re too afraid to sell out of fear that you’ll come across as “sales-y”?

Like, you’re in business, people expect you to sell your offers and your ideal clients WANT you to sell your offers. So you’ve gotta cultivate a mindset that supports you to do so.

Strategy

When it comes to the strategy of soulful sales, I want to share 3 key strategies that will make selling soulfully A LOT easier.

1: Being clear on the solution that you provide

Soulful sales is essentially about matching your offer and service with the right people, aka the people who want and need it.

So the clearer you are on the solution that you provide, the easier it will be to make that match happen.

It means that you’re consistently attracting and nurturing the right people all the way through their journey from finding you to buying from you.

So you’re firstly attracting and bringing the right kind of people into your community from the outset, you’re then educating them with content that serves them and their needs, and finally your offers clearly provide them with the solution they are looking for.

So all the way along that client journey, from first coming into contact with you to hearing about your offer, you’re clear on the solution you provide. It’s all aligned, it all makes sense.

This makes selling so much easier because by the time you’re saying “and here’s how you can work with me” – they’re already halfway there because they’re in your world for the right reasons.

In sales lingo, this is called qualifying your leads, matching your offer with the right person.

There’s no point trying to sell someone apple juice if the solution to their problem is orange juice. They’re going to be unhappy with apple juice and you’re going to feel like you have to overcompensate for only having apple juice to offer them. Apples and oranges, it’s not a good match. You don’t want to end up in this situation. Square peg, round hole. No one wins.

In soulful sales, you want everyone to win. The way you do that is by qualifying your leads and making sure that the service you offer is a match for the person’s wants and needs. This is why being clear on the solution you provide is so important.

2: Having a solid marketing strategy

This is about how your marketing and sales strategies marry up together. If you have a killer marketing strategy, then sales becomes easier.

And that’s because your marketing is going to be doing the qualifying for you.

So you really want to be nailing your messaging – and by nailing your messaging, I mean, speaking directly to your ideal clients and customers, and what their needs and desires are.

The more specific you can be in your messaging, the more your ideal clients will be naturally attracted to you. They’ll see themselves in your message. They’ll resonate. They’ll tune in. They’ll want more.

When your marketing is working for you, it’s essentially weeding out anybody who isn’t a good fit and bringing those people who are a good fit, closer to you. So when it comes time to sell, it's easier because people know what you're about and they trust you.

This is about building TRUST. People need to trust you in order to buy from you. And they come to trust you through your marketing, through the content you’re sharing and the message you’re putting out there.

What happens when your marketing and sales don’t marry up is that you’ll be attracting people closer to you and bringing people into your community who aren’t necessarily a good fit for your offers.

To give you an example, this is why “creating a viral reel” might not necessarily be the best thing for your business. Sure, it might bring a whole lot of people into your community and your audience BUT are they the right kind of people? If the reel that went viral didn’t have anything to do with your niche or wasn’t targeted for your ideal client, it could actually have very little impact on your sales and bottom line.

So your marketing matters, your messaging matters, getting really clear on the needs and desires of your ideal client matters – this is what is going to create an environment that makes sales so much easier for you.

3: Having a clear sales process

A confused mind doesn’t buy. So having a clear sales process is key.

You want to be really clear on the steps people need to take to buy from you and clearly communicate those steps with them.

What is the next step you want your people to take?

Are you being clear and upfront how people can work with you?

Are you consistently sharing your offers, your services and inviting people in?

And then…what’s your process on the back end?

Are you tracking your leads?

Are you following up?

And trust me when I say, the fortune really is in the follow up!

I know some business coaches teach that following up comes from a place of “needy, convincing energy” but I just don’t buy into that.

Following up with people from a genuine place of service is soulful. Following up people who have expressed an interest or who you’ve had a conversation with in the past about your offers – that’s caring about your people.

Please remember that! If you’re ever feeling like “oh maybe I’m annoying them?” No, if it’s coming from a genuine place of service, you are not annoying them.

So when it comes to your sales process, you want to be really clear on how to work with you, the action or next step you want people to take, sharing that consistently on the front end, and then tracking and following up consistently on the back end.

This is going to make sales feel so much more easeful for you, because clarity creates ease for both you and your clients. Again, it’s a win-win.

Strategy + Mindset = Ease

When you can bring these strategies together with a soulful sales mindset, then selling is going to feel so much easier.

What I want you to take away from this episode is that sales doesn’t need to be sleazy or fear-based. Sales can be soulful when you approach it in the right way.

And it really is the number 1 skill you need as a spiritual business owner – because without sales, you simply don’t have a business. So this is a skill that you want to be cultivating from the get-go!
