Are You Doing Enough? Signs Your Launch Needs More From You
Have you ever felt like you should be “doing more” in your launch?
This is a conversation I often have with my clients during their launches, so in today’s episode of the Feminine Fire Podcast I want to talk about how to know if you’re doing enough AND what I’d recommend if a client came to me with this question.
It’s a really great example of how mindset meets strategy in a launch. Because it’s not one or the other – it’s both.
You need a solid launch strategy AND the mindset to back it up – so that’s what we’re diving into today.
When you feel like you need to be doing more in your launch…
In my experience, when someone feels like they need to be “doing more” in their launch, they fall into one of two categories. And depending on which category you fall into will change what I would recommend for you.
Because there’s not one size fits all for everyone here. So what I’m going to do in today’s episode is take you through both of these scenarios and share what I’d recommend for each as the next steps forward.
Scenario 1 – Doing more isn’t the answer
You might be the person who has your whole launch strategy mapped out, you’re showing up, you’re sharing your launch content, you’re doing the things, you’re having the conversations, you’re sending the emails, you’re doing the follow up…
BUT you feel like there’s still more you “should” be doing.
Even when things are going well – you still feel like you’re not doing enough, that you need to be doing more or perhaps that you’re missing something, like, surely it can’t be THIS easy.
So you go out looking for ways to make it harder or you go out looking for ways to add more and more to your plate, working non-stop and stressing about your launch – even though you are already showing up and doing the things you need to be doing.
And I’ve seen this happen with clients where they’re showing up and doing the things BUT sales are still slow AND with clients where they’re showing up and doing the doings and sales are actually flowing in.
So this mindset isn’t something that only happens if you're not making sales. You can still be having these thoughts of more, more, more even when things are going well on paper.
My recommendation when doing more isn’t the answer
When a client comes to me who is doing the things, following the plan, making sales but is still feeling this way – the first thing I recommend is taking a big deep breath, stepping back out of the emotion of it all and actually looking at the evidence in front of you, reminding yourself that what you are doing is actually working and there’s no need to be in that stress-y rush-y chaotic energy. Let’s not create problems where there aren’t any. Let’s not make it harder than it has to be.
From there once you’re feeling a little more regulated and your mindset is not spiralling, then we can ask the question – do you have capacity to be doing more right now? And do you WANT to?
Because here’s the thing – there is ALWAYS more you could be doing in a launch. There is always another strategy we could layer in, another touchpoint we could create for your people, another platform we could be sharing on BUT adding in MORE is not necessarily the answer.
There might be times where you ARE doing all the things but sales are slower than you want them to be. And in that case, rather than adding in MORE, I’d first recommend looking at what you’re already doing, what’s working, what’s not working and then as a result what strategy tweaks do we need to make from looking at the launch data and chatting through the conversations you’ve been having with your people and deciding:
Is it a messaging tweak?
Are we getting traffic to your sales page?
Are you getting people clicking on the link in your emails?
Where are we losing people?
And therefore what are the changes and tweaks we need to make to what you’re already doing?
Because if what you’re doing right now isn’t working, then adding in MORE is likely not the answer. And sometimes, it’s just continuing to work the strategy.
My biggest recommendation here is to stay in the game, don’t give up, keep going, stay IN the energy of your launch and continue showing up and following the plan.
There are often more people swirling and watching than you think there are, and right now I’m seeing more and more people waiting until the very last minute to make the decision to jump in.
Scenario 2 – Doing more is the answer
On the other side, you might be the person who is spending a lot of time *thinking* about doing the things in your launch but you’re not *actually* doing them.
Maybe you’ve got a launch plan but you’re not really following it, or maybe you don’t have a plan at all so you’re not clear on what you should actually be doing. You’ve likely talked about your offer once, maybe twice, and then completely ghosted your community or you’ve been very sporadic in showing up and selling your offer. Like, are you even in a launch?
You likely feel stuck, overwhelmed, paralysed, not sure what to do or how to do it. And in this case, you haven’t been showing up enough and yes, your launch needs more from you. You can’t just post and ghost, you can’t share once and hope your people see it and buy from you, your launch does require you to show up and sell and talk about your offer multiple times, again and again and again.
So in this situation, yes, you do need to be doing more.
My recommendation when doing more is the answer
If a client came to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed, not sure what they were doing but they knew they needed to be doing more – then we’d start by looking at what is actually getting in the way of you showing up for your launch in the way you want and need to.
Is it that you’re flying blind because you haven’t taken the time to create a solid launch plan, decide on your strategy and work out what you actually need to be doing each day, each week during your launch?
Is it that you don’t actually have clarity on your offer yet? Maybe you’re still a bit hazy on who its for and the problem it solves and therefore you’re not fully sold on it yourself or you’re flip flopping around on your messaging or the structure of your offer and therefore its hard to show up and sell something when you don’t have clarity on what it is?
Is it that you don’t want to come across as too sales-y, you don’t want to “annoy” people by talking about your offer too much so you’re shying away from showing up and selling your offer in the way that you need to in your launch?
Like what’s getting in the way and what do you need to do to clean that up in order to start showing up for your launch properly?
It’s never going to be one size fits all solution but at a minimum you need:
To be clear on your offer – who it's for and the problem it solves,
To be solid in your messaging and your mindset
To make your launch way more easeful
I cannot overstate how game changing having a solid launch plan is going to be for you. Making decisions on the fly, constantly having to think about what it is you need to be doing that day for your launch, worrying about what you might be forgetting – all of that melts away when you have a plan.
Either way, having a solid launch plan is the key to more ease and more success in your launch.
If you’re asking the question: am I doing enough? And you have a launch plan, you can easily determine, actually yes I am doing enough – it becomes way easier when you have a plan because you’ve got something to respond to.
If you don’t have a launch plan, answering that question is harder because you’re flying blind, and to be honest, you’re likely not doing enough because you’re spending all your time working out what you need to do in any given moment, rather than just implementing a plan that you’ve sat down and mapped out prior.
